Aviva Host Integration SDK™ V5.0 Offers Seamless Integration of Host Data To Oracle9i Application Server

Montreal, Canada, November 6, 2002 Aviva Inc., a worldwide provider of secure host access and application integration software solutions, today announced the launch of the Aviva® Host Integration Software Development Kit™ V5.0 (AHI SDK) designed for Oracle9i Application Server (Oracle9iAS). The product includes a suite of development tools for building Java™ applications, servlets, Java Server Pages™ (JSPs), Portlets and Enterprise Java Beans™ (EJBs). AHI SDK V5.0 offers quick, seamless and non-intrusive integration of legacy data into Web applications, and it is customized specifically for the Oracle9i Application Server.

This version of AHI SDK is designed specifically for Oracle9iAS developers. It offers customized templates (used to generate prototypes), pre- packaged samples and comprehensive guides to minimize developers' learning curves and to enable them to quickly build new applications. In order to ease integration into the Oracle9iAS environment, AHI SDK includes automatic JSP, servlet, Portlet and EJB creation customized for Oracle9iAS.

AHI SDK V5.0 allows for easy integration of legacy data to enable the creation of new server-based applications through development tools, APIs and libraries. A set of flexible, mature and secure (SSL) Java APIs (including an XML API) are available to help Oracle9iAS developers write applications that interact with a host computer. Running on Windows platforms, AHI SDK generates platform-independent Java code that runs on any platforms supported by Oracle9iAS.

AHI SDK V5.0 dramatically reduces application development time by providing easy-to-learn and easy-to-use tools such as the Aviva Developer Assistant (ADA), templates, application prototypes, and the Aviva Trace Player. The ADA, a rapid application development tool, creates host transaction objects (Hostlets) that encapsulate every interaction with the host computer. The ADA allows Oracle9iAS developers to easily create server- based or EAI applications that connect to a host computer without having to learn a proprietary API or writing a single line of code. It simplifies the screen scraping process and offers a non-intrusive, low-risk solution without altering host applications. A tutorial is also available to familiarize Oracle9iAS developers with the ADA and to assist them in creating Java applications for accessing host data.

Another time-saving feature includes a testing and diagnostic tool (Trace Player) that allows users to record and playback a complete host session. This tool can be used to record an interaction on the host and play it back at another location, for example a customer site, without requiring access to the host. AHI SDK can create fully customizable application prototypes used to bind the Hostlet with applications.
