 Desktop-based 3270, 5250 and VT220 emulation solution
Key Benefits
New! .NET Interoperability
- Programs written in .NET are more robust and secure. This feature allows .NET applications to access and automate Aviva® for Desktops™ and vice-versa. C# automation samples are also provided to guide programmers.
New! Printer Associate
- Aviva® for Desktops™ now supports the TN3270 printer associate feature. The printer session is activated automatically when the display session is activated.
New! Installation
- The installation of Aviva® for Desktops™ is now more flexible and quicker. The administrator is able to configure the program for one or for all session users simultaneously. Also, an express setup has been added to speed up the installation if only one type of connectivity is used.
Property Manager - provides an intuitive single point of entry for complete off-line configuration and customization of all Aviva sessions and connection types
Tracing and Logging Utility - provides the in-depth analysis needed to streamline problem solving, which can be configured either remotely or locally within the session
Hot-Backup - provides automatic reconnection and a dynamic link selection across all connection types, minimizing down time
Session Template - contains the default values that are used by the Session Wizard to create a new display or printer session; can be customized by the system administrator for a specific corporate environment
Wizards - provide step-by-step instructions to create new session and destinations using the default values contained in the session templates
SMS Support - provides scripts that allow attended or unattended installations of Aviva for Desktops across the network using Microsoft Systems Management Server
Resource Kit - provides MIS professional with additional tools and information needed for installing, configuring and supporting Aviva for Desktops
International Support - international keyboard and font support for 48 languages and layouts allows large multi-national corporations to standardize on one emulation product for worldwide host connectivity
ActiveX Automation - Aviva for Desktops functions both as an ActiveX Controller and Server, which means it can control or be controlled by other ActiveX compliant applications such as MS Excel or Visual Basic
WinHLLAPI - enables third party applications that are written to this API to communicate with Aviva for Desktops
Macro Dialog Editor - lets users automate routine tasks such as logging on to the host and copying information between sessions; macros can be assigned to keyboard mappings, toolbar buttons, menu items, hotspots and screen triggers through the Macro Manager
VBA Compatible Macro Language - an advanced macro language that supports the familiar VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) syntax promoted by Microsoft in all its MS Office products, so that users familiar to MS Office applications don't have to learn a new macro language
GUI Front-End Generation - with its support for a wide variety of APIs and tools (HLLAPI, ActiveX Automation, VBA macro language, etc.), Aviva for Desktops is the ideal platform to develop GUI front-end applications that hide the complexity of SNA connectivity to the end-user
Graphical Toolbar - can display multiple graphical toolbars that can be customized and positioned anywhere on the screen; includes the ToolTips feature that displays a descriptive text for each button
Screen Triggers - a Screen Trigger is a pre-defined area of the session window in which Aviva for Desktops searches for a specified word or phrase generated by the host computer and depending on the word or phrase sent, executes a pre-assigned macro or emulation text string
Toolbar and Menu Editors - lets LAN administrators add, move, remove or rename menus as well as assign menus to macros and emulation text - identical to that of standard Microsoft Office products
Host color remapping - lets LAN administrators customize the user interface to maximize screen visibility
Configure Hotspots - pre-set by the administrator in the session template, eliminating the need to use keyboard function keys
MAPI-compliant messaging - enables users to send display screens and diagnostic files to LAN administrators via e-mail
ToolTips on OIA line - the OpView line converts cryptic Operator Information Area (OIA) symbols into plain English (via ToolTips) which provides an intuitive way to streamline connecting problems
OIA merged with status bar - the contents of the OpView can also be presented as text information in the status bar, providing more space to display data
3D View - lets the LAN administrators put a graphical face on legacy applications without writing a single line of code and let corporations focus their development efforts where they are needed
Drag and Drop file transfer - provides an intuitive user interface to transfer files between systems
Aviva HotConnectTM - a patent-pending technology that provides secure SNA-to-TCP/IP migration and failsafe connectivity
Context-sensitive Help - provides short, functional descriptions of items, and is displayed in a box that pops-up near the item
Tour Guide - a built-in help agent that provides tours of dialog boxes, minimizes training requirements by familiarizing the user with application elements
Quick Start booklet - a short and concise manual that helps users to install and configure Aviva for Desktops
