EICON TECHNOLOGY CREATES NEW AVIVA DIVISION
Aviva Product Line Evolves into Autonomous Division to More
Aggressively Target Specific Requirements of Host Access Market.
MONTREAL, July 11, 2000 - Further to Eicon Technology's (TSE: EIC)
announcement to restructure its business operations and strengthen
its market position, this week the company released its strategy
for the Aviva family of host access products. Effective immediately,
Aviva will become a separate Division of Eicon Technology with its
own distinct Research and Development, Sales, Marketing and Customer
Support organizations.
"By creating a separate Division with its own dedicated infrastructure,
Aviva will be able to truly focus on fulfilling the specific requirements
of its unique market, customers and channels. This strategy is in
keeping with Eicon's new business philosophy of providing better
alignment between product development and specific market demand",
stated Peter Brojde, President and CEO of Eicon Technology. "I am
confident and enthusiastic about the opportunities that lie ahead
for the Division and its product lines", Mr. Brojde added.
The Aviva Division will continue to provide highly reliable solutions
that enable major organizations - within the finance/insurance,
transportation and government sectors, amongst others - to find
new ways to exploit the power of their host-based information and
automate their business logic with unparalleled flexibility, security
and reliability. In addition to enabling the secure delivery of
host-based business information on-demand to corporations and to
their internal and external customers, the Aviva Division will work
very aggressively toward bringing to market new e-volutionary software
for the changing requirements of the host access market, including
wireless connectivity. The Aviva product line features Web-to-host,
B2B, B2C and solutions for IBM S/390 and AS/400 platforms, and for
DEC and UNIX systems.
"The spin-off of the Aviva product line into a separate Division
of Eicon is extremely exciting and represents enormous potential
for success", commented Larry Curran, currently Eicon's Chief Information
Officer, and newly appointed General Manager of the Aviva Division.
"More than ever, we are poised to provide our customers with exceptional
products and services that will facilitate their successful implementations
of new B2B and B2C initiatives".
To accelerate its expansion, Aviva is currently participating in
the Capital Summit 2000 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal from
July 11 to 13, 2000. This is a major event for organizations seeking
venture capital.
