Aviva Appoints Carlos Falconi as New Vice President,
Worldwide Sales & Service
Company bolsters U.S. and European market presence with new
V.P. Sales and senior-level sales appointees
Montreal, Quebec, November 6, 2001— Aviva Inc.-a
leading worldwide provider of innovative and secure host access
and Web-to-host software solutions-today announced the appointment
of Carlos Falconi as V.P., Worldwide Sales & Service. Mr. Falconi
joins Aviva following a seven-year career in senior sales
management positions with some of Aviva's major competitors
in the Host Access arena including Attachmate Corporation, Wall
Data, Inc. and NetManage® Inc. Mr. Falconi's primary mandate
will be to re-structure the sales operations to support Aviva's
strategic shift from a product-focused organization to a provider
of value-added application integration and host security solutions.
To further this effort, the company also announced the appointment
of two Regional Sales Managers and two Senior Systems Consultants
in the U.S., as well as a Southern Europe Sales Manager and a Senior
Account Manager.
"We're very fortunate to have attracted someone of Carlos'
calibre to Aviva," said Larry Curan, President and
CEO of Aviva. "He is extremely well versed on Aviva
Solutions' position in the marketplace, as well as the strengths
and weaknesses of its key competitors. Plus, he has an impressive
pool of knowledge and understanding of the Host Access market's
supporting technology, including PC-to-Host, Web-to-Host, Web, Client
Server, EAI, Data Bases, LAN, WAN, Java, and ActiveX. This, coupled
with his strong management skills and experience in developing new
markets, makes Carlos a valuable and welcome addition to our executive
team."
Mr. Falconi brings to Aviva over 22 years of technical,
sales and management experience encompassing systems sales, connectivity
sales, internetworking sales, development, maintenance, support
and consulting. Over the course of his career, Mr. Falconi also
served as President and co-owner of a computer solutions reseller
firm that sold, among other brands, products from Eicon Networks
and i-data international a-s. Mr. Falconi holds a BA degree from
St. Thomas University in Miami.
As part of the company's re-structuring efforts, the U.S. sales
operations-previously centralized in Dallas-have been separated
into an Eastern and a Western region. Dick Jagoutz and Gizela Palumbo
have been appointed Regional Sales Managers for the East and West,
respectively. Mr. Jagoutz joins Aviva from Telelogic North
America where he held the position of Northeast District Sales Manager.
He has over 20 years of sales experience in end-user and channel
sales and previously held sales management responsibilities for
both the eastern U.S. and Canadian markets. Gizela Palumbo's career
spans many sales positions held at Microsoft and Symantec, and senior-level
and management positions at Wall Data and NetManage. Prior to joining
Aviva, Ms. Palumbo was Regional Sales Manager for Latin
America at NetManage, and over the course of the past year, she
was a senior sales person at Checkfree - an e-business payment company.
Other appointees in the U.S. include Scott Myers and Mirek Rutkowski
as Senior Systems Consultants. Mr. Myers worked as a Senior System
Engineer at Wall Data, and most recently, he was Principle Sales
Engineer for ClearCommerce-an e-commerce solutions company. Mirek
Rutkowski was Senior Systems Consultant for Nortel Networks, as
well as NetManage's Regional Director of System Engineers in Latin
America.
In Europe, Jean-Michel Gonon and Anicet Fronteau join the sales
team as Southern Europe Sales Manager and Senior Account Manager,
respectively. Mr. Gonon worked for IBM for over 10 years, and prior
to joining Aviva, was Sales Manager in charge of European
French countries at Persistence Software - an application server
company. Anicet Fronteau has over 20 years of experience as a Systems
Integrator in France. He has worked for companies such as Cisi,
Software Editors, Cognos, and Jacada.
"The re-structuring of our sales operations in the U.S. and
Europe is a crucial step in transforming Aviva from an
organization that just sells products, to one that delivers application
integration and host security solutions that support a solid product
line," said Carlos Falconi. "We already have many loyal
corporate customers in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia
Pacific. I look forward to working with an exceptionally talented
sales team, as well as key systems integrators and VARs, to bring
a new level of service and product to current and new customers
around the world."
